The Sant’Anna School Master Program GECA (Environmental Resource Management) faculty members have adopted alternative (online) assessment to recognize students’ performance in response to the Covid-19 emergency.

By Summer 2020, students of the Master’s Program GECA will need to develop a laboratory activity and present the results of their research bringing together theory and methodology.

Students will demonstrate originality by choosing their subjects of study and defining nature and scope under the supervision of tutors and co-supervising partners.

The project dissertation (in Italian) will be conducted as follows:

2:45 pm Laboratory 1: “Circular Economy, EU recycling plan, Analysis of the Industry Production Trend”

Students: Clara Dughetti, Valeria Galasso, Francesco Morelli, Alessandro Sturdà.

Companies: Ascit, Bulgari, Cermec, Rea.

Companies representatives: Nicola Carnini (Ascit), Giulia Casodi (Bulgari), Alessio Ciacci (Cermec), Stefano Turchi (Rea).

Sant’Anna School Tutors: Paolo Ghezzi, Francesco Testa.

Goals and Objectives:  In consideration of binding European targets for waste management in a circular economy, the Lab. Group work focused on recycling capacities for food waste, plastic, and packaging waste. In particular, the Tuscany regional investments need to develop policy instruments for reuse, waste reduction and recycling to address the leather material recycling challenges.

3.15 pm Laboratory 2: “Il ciclo dei solventi: stato dell’arte e nuove opportunità di ottimizzazione di una filiera multisettoriale e sovranazionale”

Students: Wanda Amitrano, Myriam Bartolucci, Laura Bellocchi, Leonardo Curzi, Silvia Loré.

Company: Itelyum Purification.

Companies representatives: Stefano Gardi, Giovanni Brentana.

Sant’Anna School Tutors: Tiberio Daddi, Natalia Marzia Gusmerotti, Serena Carlesi.

Goals and Objectives:  the Lab. Group work focused on solvent recycling within the chemical industry and recycling of solvents used in product manufacturing.   Ensuring a level playing field with chemical recycling in complementing mechanical recycling towards a circular economy, the Group represents cost effective solutions to address chemical recycling processes from corporate targets to local/regional "zero waste" plans.

3.45 pm   Laboratory 3: “Organizational Policy for Circular procurement in the Private Sector”

Students: Grazia Pia Vascello, Toselli Chiara, Alessio Novi, Alberto Branciforti.

Companies: Global Compact Network Italia, Revet.

Companies representatives: Katia Saro (GCNI), Diego Barsotti (Revet).

Sant’Anna School Tutors: Fabio Iraldo, Filippo Corsini.

Goals and Objectives:  the Lab. Group work focused on the policies for circular procurement ('the process by which public authorities purchase works, goods or services that seek to contribute to closed energy and material loops within supply chains, whilst minimising, and in the best case avoiding, negative environmental impacts and waste creation) in the private sector. Considering regional legislation and public procurement good practices, students demonstrate how circularity can be integrated in private sector procurement process.

4.15 pm   Laboratory 4: “Developing the Hydrogen Train in the Energy Transition”

Students: Kilian Farinelli, Tiziana Iannuzzi, Gabriele Bernardi, Grazia Marchini.

Company: Ancitel.

Company representative: Giuseppe Rinaldi.

Sant’Anna School Tutors: Marco Frey, Francesco Rizzi, Eleonora Annunziata, Nora Annesi, Guglielmo Liberati

Goals and Objectives:  the Lab. Group work focused on the (green) hydrogen solutions for sustainable mobility. Supported by Ancitel Energia and Ambiente S.p.a., students carried out feasibility studies for hydrogen-powered trains running through Sansepolcro - Terni - Sulmona. As part of the project, the hydrogen train will take South Italy routes, contribute to the decarbonization of transport and to the development of regional economic development in Italy.
